El Arriero Mexican Restaurant

This is a really good Mexican spot! If I had to categorize it, it's much closer to SoCal Mexican than it is "east coast". There's alot more herb flavors than the other spots around town. The Salsa: Top Notch. It comes across more fresh and hand made. Lots of white onion, cilantro, and cracked black pepper. Way better than the tomato puree at other places. The chips are the nice thick, freshly fried, corn tortilla. The entrée: I got the Burrito Jalisco. Man, I haven't found anything like this anywhere else. For one- it's big. Big enough to take some home but it's so good. The cheese has a nice clean but creamy feel, almost like a goat cheese. The chipotle sauce is basically mole which is what sets this plate apart from others. It's smokey, light spice, and so flavorful. I know it's not for everyone but if you've had food IN Mexico, this is a good shot. Lots of steak in it. I didnt get a lot from the meat but it was plentiful. I also wasn't blown away by the refried beans. But it didn't take away from the dish. The service: they were all so helpful! Smiles while I was being seated, courteous when I was ordering, and kept getting checked on. And the place was very clean. For the area, this place is in a diffrent league. So flavorful and very authentic. Definitely recommend (keeping in mind it is NOT east coast Mexican, it's better!)

My husband and I ate here in person a couple months ago and were impressed. Since we have ordered take out from here several times. The atmosphere inside is nice - clean, friendly staff, good food. On the delivery side of it (I use uber eats most times to order delivery) - food is still made fresh, arrives hot, and is just as good as it was the couple of times we have eaten inside. I swear the tortillas and the chips that are served here tastes like someones grandma is back in the kitchen making them! Prices are reasonable in my opinion (dine in usually runs my husband and I between $30 and $40). This is my go to Mexican restaurant in Jacksonville now.

Food was amazing, wide variety of choices for Mexican food. Ranging from fajitas, to carne asada and tacos, they have all the hispanic classics. Service was fast, convenient, and ideal. Free refills, which was a nice surprise. The atmosphere was great as well, they include traditional decorations, horses, fancy lights... it felt as if it were a 5 star restaurant. Overall, a great experience.

From the smell of fabuloso on the tiles, to the hot, well-plated food. This restaurant has it. Came from the Bay area, my partner and I had our 4-year anniversary dinner here. We both been moved out here for some time. This was like walking into any cantina in San Jose, and in some ways better. The service was phenomenal everybody was so friendly and smiled, but also gave us space to eat and have a conversation with one another. The food was hot, well cooked, well seasoned, excellently portioned, and well priced. It's not cheap, but it's not expensive either. Like any well-loved restaurant, there are some cracks in the booths, some lights and TVs out, but when you enjoy yourself at the restaurant that much, those things you don't really notice. We had a lovely time, and plan to make this a regular spot.
